An Artsy Day

A landscape using stick pastels and
3 birds using pastel pencils done
 on sketch pad paper, pastel
 paper, and suede board

I have been painting birds lately, different kinds of birds, different mediums, and different surfaces in order to best advise our 4-H club members on choosing an art project or two to do this year.  Here are some I've done.

Birds done in oils

The highlights of our meeting today are shown in the following photos.  Some of the girls shared things they have been working on or made since our last meeting.

Our main activity was painting an owl using the techniques I learned years ago in decorative painting.  It was difficult for some of them since it was the first experience for most of them to use oils (water mixable). I think they did well on their little owls painted on brown grocery bag paper.  Practice makes perfect!
