Making Progress

Today was our monthly work meeting  when everyone brings projects to work on.

Jenna finished her reversible bag with a pocket today.  Here she is showing both sides.

Autumn and Alexa did the prep work needed for beginning their pastel painting projects, and Hannah started painting the pretty yellow petals on her design.  They are all doing paintings of colorful birds.

Bronte learned how to do the blanket stitch today and used it to sew on
the details of the top of her fleece owl pillow before sewing it to the back and stuffing it.
Alexa chose some great fabrics using dark, light and medium prints for her pieced doll quilt.

Projects Underway

Our meeting began today in the kitchen where we tried out a recipe from our new 4-H cooking curriculum - oatmeal muffins.  When they came out of the oven we rated them on how they looked on the outside, the inside, how they tasted, and decided they were winners, especially with strawberry jam.

Next we had a presentation on how to make a regular sandwich into something interesting, cute, and healthy.  An owl next to a tree, all edible and yummy!  Thanks, Hannah.

We began our business meeting with Bronte leading the pledge
of allegiance, followed by the 4-H pledge and discussions
of plans for activities and projects.

The rest of our time was spent working on sewing and sketching.  The girls are focusing more on working on items for the fair coming up in July.   A busy and fun meeting!
